Prayer is still our
most powerful weapon…
Matthews 6:9-13 – Model
Prayer
We have moved away from
a powerful weapon – prayer
We have moved from the
designated hour of prayer – to a moment of prayer – to whispering a prayer –
then we wonder why things are becoming out of control.
This model prayer
covers 7 main points:
1. The paternal need –
“Our Father”
2. God’s presence –
“Hallowed be Thy Name”
3. God’s priority – “
Thy Kingdom come”
4. God’s provision –
“Give us this day – our daily bread”
5. God’s forgiveness –
“And forgive us”
6. Power over Satan –
“Lead us NOT into temptation but deliver us from evil”
7. Divine partnership –
“Thine is the kingdom”
We have reduced prayer
in our lives as the last resort which is such an error since the Bible
tells us that men should always prayer and not faint; seek ye first the
kingdom of God and it’s righteousness and all these things will be added
unto you; acknowledge God in all our ways, and He will direct our path.
We have moved ourselves
from the principle of prayer – we are stuck in praying the prayer of Jabez
that we forget to pray one for another.
In the model prayer –
there is no selfish, self seeking motivation. It is all about praying
the will of God. The original text informs us that when we pray, we
should make a vow to God that will strive to do better and truly seek God’s
will for our lives. We should not pray only when we have to, but pray
because we want to be still and know what the Lord has to say over our
lives.
Can we pray for one
hour? Prayer Works!
